SLTM TABLE TOPICS CONTEST

Seocho Leaders Toastmasters holds Table Topics Contests on an annual basis. All members of SLTM are eligible to sign up and participate in this contest. If you are a member and wish to sign up for this exciting contest please email ed.sltm@gmail.com with your request for the sign up, or come to our next meeting. Table Topics is a great opportunity to practice your impromptu speaking skills. There is no better test than a contest for this challenging activity! See you all there!

GANGNAM TOASTMASTERS UPDATE !

 Toastmasters in the Gangnam area presents the FIRST EVER interclub wine party! Areas 30 and 31 will be gathering for a fun night filled with wine, food, and friends. Toastmasters from other areas in Seoul and Korea are of course more than welcome to join us.

IMPORTANT: UPDATE
SLTM we have just updated the Competent Leader Track to 3 specific awards to give incentives to filling roles and fulfilling the Leadership Program. The awards are as follows…

The Seocho Leaders Bronze Competent Leader award will cover projects 1-2-3. Listening, Critical Thinking and Giving Feedback will be addressed and completed in this award. The Seocho Leaders Silver CL award will cover projects 4-5. Time management and Planning and Implementation will be addressed and completed. Finally the Seocho Leaders Gold CL award will be the most difficult as it covers projects 6-7-8. Organization/ Delegation, Facilitation and Motivation will be addressed. After completing all of the SLTM awards to receive the Competent Leader award via Toastmasters International projects 9-10 remain. Mentoring and Team Building will be covered in these projects. Be sure to bring your manual to every meeting to make sure that you are getting credit for the roles that you fill !

IMPORTANT: UPDATE
For some members the Competent Communicator Track can seem like a marathon. Some may feel apprehensive to sign up for that next speech, because the goal is so far off. On Thursday June 23rd SLTM broke down the Competent Communicator track into three obtainable awards here. By breaking down the speeches into clearly visible goals, this will give members the opportunity to reflect on the core competencies learned and use them to his or her advantage.

The first three speeches #1 Icebreaker, #2 Organize Your Speech and #3 Get to the point members will be awarded with the Seocho Leaders Bronze CC (SLB CC). The Bronze CC will focus on how to build and structure a speech open to finish. Speeches 4-6 How to Say It, Your Body Speaks and Vocal Variety will be awarded with the Seocho Leaders Silver CC (SLS CC). The Silver CC helps members execute a delivery that is impacting. Speeches 7-9 Research Your Topic, Get Comfortable with Visual Aids and Persuade With Power will be awarded with the Seocho Leaders Gold CC (SLG CC). The Gold CC helps harness all of items learned thus far and focus on delivering knowledge, displaying information in a successful way and winning the audience. The final speech #10 Inspire your audience will incorporate all of the speech focuses an will award you with your Toastmasters International Competent Communicator Award!!

SLTM Meeting #36 Mafia Murder Mystery

June 9th, 2011 SLTM will hold it’s elections along with a mafia murder mystery theme night! Entry will include snacks and a raffle for a bottle of wine. Come along and dress the part as a mafia character. As the night progresses audience members will be revealed as getting “Wacked” or “Taken out”. It is up to the remaining members of the audience to find who the guilty party really is!! Come along and enjoy another epic event with us at SLTM

The meeting of the ages for Seocho Leaders Toastmasters took place tonight with our toastmaster Barry Smith. Some great speeches were delivered and everyone really stepped up with responsibility. A record 31 members and guests were in attendance!!! It was truly a sight to see and hear. In case you missed it here is the presentation of the event.

Seocho Leaders has now upgraded to the 35 person TOZ meeting room . Since SLTM’s birth last september it’s size has grown from six attendees to the larger booking. Come on out to our meeting on May 19th as we celebrate and take part in our growth!

Dear Toastmasters and Welcomed Guests,

On Friday, April 29th Korea’s Area 30 Speech Contest took place with the top speakers of the four clubs Seocho Leaders, South River, Gangnam Hills and Coex Toastmasters. Seven speakers faced off in an epic night of motivation laughter and much more. The seven speakers of the contest were Ulf Egestrand, Eva Lee, Jenny Kim, Barry Smith, Irving Gussow, Michael Whyte and Pil Soo Oh. After the speeches were concluded it was Pil Soo Oh who was awarded with 3rd place, Irving Gussow awarded with 2nd Place and Seocho Leader’s own Barry Smith who was the first place speaker of the evening. Barry Smith will continue on to speak at the National Speech Contest at BEXCO Convention Center in Busan on the 28th of May. Thursday April 14th Seocho Leaders Toastmasters held it’s first Toastmasters International speech contest. The speeches were well delivered and made for an inspirational and motivational evening. The contest participants included Richard Kim, Daesik Kim, Steve Cooper, Barry Smith and Michael Whyte. The First and Second place speakers Barry Smith and Michael Whyte will continue on to speak in the Area Contest that will be held on April 29th. Congratulations to the participants and thanks to everyone in attendance!

On April 14th 2011, SLTM will be holding its first ever speech contest! After the area judges training session on March 5th, three  SLTM officers obtain the knowledge to affectively judge a Toastmasters International speech contest.
