What is Toastmasters?
Who is a Toastmaster?
Toastmasters International is a non-profit organization operating in 113 countries, with over 12,500 clubs and more than 260,000 members worldwide. Toastmasters International is aimed at improving public speaking and leadership skills through club meetings, speech contests, training seminars and personal mentoring programs. Toastmasters was founded in 1924 by Ralph C. Smedely whose first held meeting was in a basement of YMCA in Santa Ana, California. Since then Toastmasters has evolved into an organization that helps men and women worldwide improve themselves.
The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every individual member has the opportunity to develop oral communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth. ~Toastmasters Club Mission Statement
